SB 1734 (2026)Responsible Technology in Schools Act
Enacted and in effect July 1, 2026. Requires Oklahoma school districts to evaluate AI tools before deployment by examining how those tools work, their decision-making processes, and whether they adequately protect student data. Districts must maintain inventories of existing AI-powered educational tools and assess vendor data handling and retention practices. Prohibits AI from making high-stakes educational decisions independently - educator review is required. Districts using AI tools without documented evaluation are out of compliance as of the effective date.
