Alabama's comprehensive consumer privacy law, signed April 17, 2026 and effective May 1, 2027. Applies to controllers processing data of 25,000+ Alabama residents. Grants rights to access, delete, correct, and opt out of data sales and targeted advertising. Requires data minimization, privacy notices, and written vendor agreements. EdTech vendors serving Alabama districts must audit data flows and DPAs before the May 2027 compliance deadline.
Effective: May 01, 2027 Enforcement: Civil penalties up to $15,000 per violation. 45-day cure period. AG enforcement only; no private right of action. Source →

Signed April 2026; effective October 1, 2026 (per enrolled act, Section 2). Requires Alabama public school students, beginning with the graduating class of 2032, to earn at least one credit in an approved computer science course to graduate. Sets an expectation that EdTech tools deployed in Alabama schools support demonstrable computer science learning outcomes.
