The board

The people behind every grant.
Independent by design.

The board is the Foundation's operating body. It approves every grant, sets policy, and holds the boundary between the consultancy that set the Foundation up and the districts it funds. The founding board is now seated. Inquiries stay open — for advisory roles, fundraising leads, and future seats when the board expands.

A small board meeting room with a wooden conference table, chairs pulled around it, and paper packets set at three seats. Empty of people.
The independence architecture

Four rules that don't change.

01

Loop + Ledger's founders don't sit on the Foundation's board.

02

No client, vendor or partner of the consultancy is eligible to serve.

03

Board service creates no path to business with the Foundation or the firms it funds.

04

Conflicts are disclosed and the member recuses. Every time, on the record.

Who we're looking for

Education experience is helpful. Range is the goal.

Fundraising is the role we need most right now. After that, range: a board made only of educators sees only what educators see, and this work touches procurement, law, insurance and IT.

Beneficial

Education experience

Real time in a school, a district, a board, or state ed policy. Recency and level are flexible; genuineness is not.

Needed now

Fundraising experience

Someone who has actually raised money for a mission-driven organization, at any scale, and knows how to run a spend-down conversation.

Wanted

Range beyond education

Procurement, law, insurance, IT, cybersecurity, nonprofit governance. The audit work touches all of these; the board should too.

Nice to have

Location we don't have

We want the board to reflect the range of districts we serve. If we don't yet have a member from your region, please consider applying.

How service actually runs

The commitment, spelled out.

Meetings

Quarterly, plus grant approvals as they come. Recorded, with the recording and transcript kept in a library every board member can reach.

Before a vote

Everything the board will see goes out several days ahead. No first looks in the room. No surprises.

If you can't attend

Submit your vote by email. It stays sealed until the meeting opens. Your voice is present even when you can't be.

The commitment

Designed so that serving doesn't mean rearranging your life around a calendar invite. Two to four hours per meeting, plus grant reads between meetings.

Term

Two years, renewable once. Staggered so the board keeps continuity when members rotate off.
